Heather was the nurse that prepped me for surgery and ended up staying with me for twelve unexpected hours. While prepping me, Heather was also training another nurse who was obviously a little nervous, but Heather's calm demeanor helped this new nurse to perform the procedures flawlessly. She was patient and gently gave helpful advice. My husband went home, thinking that I would be discharged later that afternoon. However, my procedure did not go as planned and Heather kept him informed throughout the day about what was happening and the additional care I needed. She also explained to me who the new caregivers were that came into my room and what they would be doing to help stabilize me. I was worried, but Heather's calmness and confidence in her fellow workers helped me through. Finally, after about twelve long hours for both me and her, a bed opened up and I left her care. A couple of days after I was discharged, a "Thinking of You" card arrived in the mail, wishing me well. Heather made my day, again.
