After her last shift during my stay, Heather returned to the hospital after hours to give the angel pin to me in a similar gesture of comfort and care.
I was hospitalized for an emergency colostomy, and after the surgery, I was not placed back on my regular schedule of mental health medications. The combination of the stress of the surgery and the medication withdrawal led me to have anxiety and panic attacks. I asked Heather for help, and she immediately took charge and worked with my doctor to get me back on my medication. She advocated for my needs and was very knowledgeable, caring, and reassuring throughout the process.

While chatting with my husband and me, we discovered Heather had known my mother-in-law through church. Heather had a childhood illness, and my mother-in-law, who had also experienced the same illness, gave her an angel pin as a symbol of comfort and care during her time of need. After her last shift during my stay, Heather returned to the hospital after hours to give the angel pin to me in a similar gesture of comfort and care. It was very touching that she took the time to return to the hospital after her shift and parted with an item that had great meaning to her since she received it as a child.

Thanks to Heather, I am on my way to recovery, both physically and mentally.
