First and foremost, Heather is a great example of what a nurse needs to be in this day and age we live in today. While in her care, I felt like the patient comes first. Every time she came to dispense medication, she told me what it was and the frequency that I would receive it, and any and all side effects the medication could have. Heather kept me and my wife informed of my care, and my progress, and always asked if there was anything she could do for me or get me in order for me to be comfortable. Second, she kept my wife informed and answered all her questions and concerns about my current care, as well as what tomorrow would bring, and options that might be possible through the doctor's care. Overall, as a patient, I was completely satisfied. Saturday evening my wife was visiting me, and Heather came in to administer my IV while she was there, took the time to update us on what was going on with my care as well as answered my wife’s questions and concerns. Every evening my wife would park in the handicapped spot below my window so I could always make sure it was safe for her to walk out. When she was ready to go I went to the window to check and observed two men and a bicycle sitting close to our Jeep. I told my wife to wait a while, and we would check again. Some time went by and we checked again and the men were still there. Heather came in to check on me and asked what we were looking at and I explained what we were observing. I told her that I could not let my wife leave unprotected and that I would be right back, then got ready and headed for the elevator. When we arrived at the elevator she greeted us and said she would take my wife downstairs, get a security guard, and walk her out. I was so thankful!!! I would never leave my amazing wife unprotected and in my condition probably could not do much. In everyone’s heart they know good and bad, and what one needs to do in the situation. I’m glad Heather knew what needed to be done for me and my wife.
