I received a letter from the facility about a patient's family thanking Heather for going the extra mile and making sure she got to spend as much time with their mom in her final moments.
Heather's Nurse Recruiter nominated her for a DAISY Award stating and providing the following information:
"I have been working with Heather since early on when I started recruiting. She is a very hard-working nurse who has always put the time into taking care of her patients. I did want to give a back story on Heather, her first assignment with me got off to a rock start, the week before she was due to start her house caught fire and burnt down. She still made the tough choice to start that following Monday and has always had a positive attitude. Today I received a letter from the facility about a patient's family thanking her for going the extra mile and making sure she got to spend as much time with their mom in her final moments. Making sure this family had food, drinks, and coffee. Just so they could make every minute count with their mom."
A letter from a patient's family member stated:
"Needed to say thank you for your sensitive care of my mother when she was at Hershey in your care. It was my pleasure to be able to sit by Mom's side in her final days. You not only took care of Mom, but made sure there was food, snacks, and hot coffee for me. Your job is not an easy one, but you have the heart to do it well. Thanks again from her whole family."
Her unit provided the following feedback on Heather's care:
"Heather was recognized by 2 patients who had this to say about her: "Her care and concern for my needs was outstanding. Heather went far above her duties. She made numerous calls to the lab and doctors and OT for consults/evaluations to speed up our discharge. All with a very pleasant attitude. "Most caring, friendliest, and knowledgeable nurse I have had since I have been here! Any questions asked, she can answer with all the details. Also very professional."
