My husband was sent from the ER to the medical ICU. The first nurse, whom we were very lucky to encounter, was the nicest, kindest, informative, and caring person! What was an unthinkable situation was somehow softened by her compassionate ways.
We needed a life ring in a horrible storm, and Heather was there for us to cling to throughout our 16-day stay. We were elated when we got her for our nurse. When my husband was to be transferred to Select for extended care, Heather came in on her day off to visit and check on him. She was encouraging and prayed with us and for us. The day after he transferred, she reached out to see how he was doing. That meant so much to us! After a week, he got very sick and was transferred back to the ICU. He had sepsis. We were greeted by a lot of the staff who remembered him, and we were so happy to get Heather again. It was her that was concerned and sent out a sample and found out that he had C-diff. Also, it took a week to grow cultures and find out he had pneumonia.
Henry Ford is very lucky to have Heather on their staff. To me, she is the epitome of what all nurses should strive to be. She is selfless and puts the care of her patients first. She is an angel for sure and we thank God that we got to meet her. This beautiful soul is certainly a DAISY Nurse.
