Heather Freeland, BSN, RN
Heather always goes above and beyond to deliver excellent patient care. She puts the patient and their family first. Recently we had a patient that had a complicated social situation that made their care much more involved than the typical patient. Heather stepped up to take care of the patient despite the known challenges. She treated the mother with respect and advocated for the mother and infant to remain together. Heather spent a lot of time explaining treatments to the mother. In the end the mother was appreciative and stayed calm even in the middle of the difficult social situation.
Heather also exceeded the call of duty by keeping other care providers updated on the situation. Heather brought together a collaborative team to support the patient, mother, and safe plan of care. She is an amazing nurse who always puts the patient first in all she does. She stays calm in stressful, challenging situations and is a strong member of our team. She truly deserves a DAISY Award due to going above and beyond in all she does.
