My uncle was a Veteran who received care at the Loveland VA Clinic. He passed away a year ago and this past weekend I came across a stack of emails from a nurse, Heather Gagne, who worked at that clinic. The kind words and care in those emails left me in tears of gratitude. My uncle was wheelchair-bound and living in an assisted living center. He was grumpy on a good day and had wounds on his feet that were always infected and wouldn't heal.

For one year, my uncle received an email EVERY DAY, with compassionate encouragement: "Please remember to elevate your feet", "I believe in you and know you can do this", and "don't give up, we will get you through this". All the emails were caring, respectful, and so genuine that my uncle printed each one. I can't imagine she ever got a response as he couldn't type due to the weakness in his hands. I have no idea if this nurse still works for you and this email is definitely a year late but in the event that she does or you know how to pass this message to her, please let her know how much joy her small gestures of kindness brought to my uncle. Her exemplary service deserves a medal but all I have is my sincere gratitude. Thank you for your time.
