There are so many reasons Heather is deserving of this recognition. Heather is a constant, positive role model in the ER, and exemplifies genuine caring. She is one of those rare people that affects others by making them want to perform their best - to go that extra mile for the patients and co-workers - because that is what she does. Heather keeps smiling, despite heavy caseload. She cleans rooms and strips beds or does whatever is needed to expedite patient care. Heather has patience with our elderly patients - bringing blankets and drinks, before being asked.
Heather has the wisdom and tact to deal with a variety of social issues in the ER without engaging in power struggles. She knows that diagnosis and fear need to be dealt with in a supportive manner. Heather has been an ER charge RN dealing with multiple lines of EMS/ambulance patients waiting for attention, in a professional and courteous manner. Who would you want in times of life and death, hand-holding, back-breaking work and training of new hires? You'd be very fortunate to have someone named Heather. Heather is an unsung hero of the ER, whom I am proud to call my co-worker and friend.
