I have never felt a bond with another caretaker like I do now with Heather. She is my sounding board, my friend, and now part of our family.
Our 20-year-old daughter has been a patient, very ill with an autoimmune disease affecting her brain for 10 days now. This has been the most horrible storm of our lives. Many ups and downs, different docs every day but the one constant was Heather. Heather impressed us immediately with her genuine demeanor. We know she not only cares about our daughter but all of us as well. She takes the time to talk to us and help us understand what is happening. Please note we've had excellent nursing care on this very well-run floor. But this nurse is extra special for many reasons. She's a knowledgeable nurse. She knows what our daughter needs when she doesn't have something. She communicates constantly with F's neuro team. She is another advocate for our child. This alone is reassuring as a parent. I have never felt a bond with another caretaker like I do now with Heather. She is my sounding board, my friend, and now part of our family. When you have a nurse who has her own family at home but picks up shifts so she can be with us and care for our child, need I say more.

Heather is exemplary as a nurse and caregiver. In our family's eyes, she deserves so much for her time and efforts. She represents this entire hospital for healing, compassion, and kindness and needs to be recognized for her outstanding care. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
