Amazing, supportive, loving, caring are only a few words to describe Heather. We have had my father in and out of Butterworth Hospital over the last several months. Recently, my father was again admitted to Butterworth due to the results of a CT scan and six weeks of diarrhea (he has been known as a "mystery"). His health continued to decline, but he would never complain.
Heather was always there! Encouraging him, getting him to drink protein, they just connected. Unfortunately, my father went to have a procedure and went into cardiac arrest. They worked on him for five minutes and were able to send him to the ICU. Heather requested to care for him on her shift and was informed of his medical emergency. Heather came to the ICU to inquire about the entire family. She stayed with us as a priest prayed over my father. Soon after the prayer, my father left this world and went to a better place.
My father was not a man to verbally state his feelings, but he did not hold back those feelings while Heather was caring for him. Dad found those words "I love you". Heather was my dad's angel as well as mine. Heather is definitely a nurse who has gone above and beyond to support her patients and their families.
