Heather is an extraordinary nurse that is fully committed to patient care. She is a leader that is not only engaged but accountable and takes responsibility that isn't even asked of her due to her proactive nature. I have two examples:
1) Heather attended a recent November Foley- Lite meeting after 4 October CAUTI events were announced for CH. She led the discussion by asking questions to understand system root causes/teams, wrote down notes, and took on the responsibility to follow through. She is not the sponsor/organizer of this meeting yesterday she rose to the occasion to assess our CAUTI events from a system-level perspective. She naturally became the leader of the meeting.
2) With the request from our CNO regarding the urgency of our CAUTI Problem, Heather spearheaded a meeting to make a plan for the campus. Not only did she prepare a thorough agenda for this initial task force, but she had also researched resources and engaged stakeholders beforehand. She also took on the responsibility of making educational flyers, wrote minutes, prepared a presentation, etc. regarding this project.
Overall, Heather responded with great accountability for the issue in a short span of time. She is a natural leader who understands how to effectively make a change in an institution, making sure we are realistic and appropriate in with our goals. She has a holistic approach to change.
