My dad was admitted Friday evening. He was put in room XX. When we got here the next morning, no one was in that room. We were brought down to the ICU where his nurse was Heather McCall with another nurse shadowing her. They were both amazing nurses. Heather went above and beyond in every aspect. When his doctor told me that the chemo wasn't working and the cancer had spread, she saw that I had tears in my eyes. She followed me out of the room, hugged me, and let me cry on her shoulder. She made sure that my daddy had everything that he needed and was okay emotionally. She also made sure that his night nurses knew that I wanted to be notified of any changes, good or bad. She even left a note on his board that said "Thank you for allowing me to care for you! Praying for you to enjoy time with your boys!" She knows that all he wants is to be home with us so he can have his boys by his side. Thank you, Heather. You don't know how much your attentiveness and compassion mean to us.
