Heather Mendez 2025, RN

I chose to schedule an induction for my second son. There were many emotions surrounding this decision, but as soon as I arrived at the L&D department, Heather made me feel at ease with my decision and walked me through each step that was to come. She answered my many questions to help ease my nerves, as well as provided me with every choice in my care, and helped guide me to make the best choice for me. Sadly, Heather wasn't on shift for the delivery of my son, but she came back that evening and immediately came to check on us both. She helped make me feel safe in one of the most vulnerable times in my life.

Fast forward, I had to return to the ER 2 days post-partum and was readmitted for an additional 2 days. Heather was the first to come check on me when I arrived back in the L&D. She braided my hair for me when I couldn't because of being hooked to IVs or being in too much pain to do so. She sat with me when I cried about being away from my newborn. She held my hand as I sobbed through every painful procedure I had to endure. Heather is not only an amazing nurse but also an amazing, selfless person. I will never forget how she guided me through this time in my life.
