Heather had been assigned for the third night in a row to take care of a confused elderly patient. She showed a great level of patience and compassion when it would have been easy to become frustrated. The patient woke each night in the middle of the night ready for her pancakes and eggs. Heather even went so far as to call in an order to an all-night diner, pay for it out of her own pocket, and spend her dinner break to go get the patient some pancakes at 1 am. She went well out of her way to show compassion and empathy. Her caring attitude is a fine example of what we should all strive for.

When I went down to get a coffee this morning, I noticed a gentleman sleeping on the floor in the lobby outside of cardiopulmonary. Heather was just getting off her shift and stopped to get a coffee also. I mentioned something to her about the gentleman sleeping there. She walked over and woke the gentleman up to check on him. She then came over and bought him a warm cup of coffee. I just felt this was so kind. It warmed my heart and she should be recognized.
