On day 2 of our stay, Heather walked into a very unsettled, difficult situation. Prior to her workday, the Vascular Access team was called in because of the level of difficulty our daughter was having while getting an IV and successful blood draws. Day 2 was incredibly concerning with all attempts failing, the mandatory blood thinner would need to be stopped and impair the venogram scheduled. Other options were not as optimal. Of course, you can understand we wanted the best for our daughter and for her upcoming TOS surgery. Heather was truly key in maneuvering through protocols but also being resourceful and an advocate going above and beyond her duties for our daughter’s urgent medical needs. Her diligence, expertise, and resourcefulness were evident and comforting. Heather is also a beautiful human gifted with compassion. She stayed at our daughter’s side (very distraught daughter!) through every attempted and successful procedure, comforting, calming, and reassuring her. Our 14-year-old daughter in tears was continually thanking her for every comfort she gave her. Heather was our ROCK we needed for our previous daughter’s medical and emotional needs.
