Heather Nachshen, BSN, RN Heather was nominated for the extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and heartfelt care she provided to a patient during a critical hospitalization. Her patient, who has battled cancer for 23 years and is hearing impaired, described Heather as her “hospital daughter,” a reflection of the unique, loving connection they formed.

Despite a heavy workload, Heather consistently provided exceptional care, making the patient feel seen, heard, and safe. She utilized captioning tools to communicate with patience and clarity, and provided expert clinical care accompanied by genuine compassion. Heather also supported the patient’s family, answered questions with calm reassurance, and connected them with the necessary social services.
