Heather was phenomenal at checking in on me every 30 or so minutes to see if I needed anything at all.
I went to FGH to have my "rainbow baby". Upon arrival, I was taken care of by Heather and the rest of the L&D/PP staff. Heather was phenomenal at checking in on me every 30 or so minutes to see if I needed anything at all. Not only did she make sure that I was doing well, but that my husband was, too.
When it came time to deliver my baby boy, she was the only one with us through the first few pushes as Dr. B prepared herself to come in. Heather made sure that we had pictures taken, she held my hand and comforted me through the entire experience. The first thing I asked when he came out was, "Is he ok?" And she immediately had him put on my chest and she kept reassuring me that all was well and he was perfect - she was right.
I was terrified since I had lost babies before this sweet boy of mine. She stayed late to make sure I was taken care of, she was so gentle. She has an endless amount of compassion for her patients. I've never seen anyone in healthcare go as above and beyond as she did for us, and I've worked in healthcare for seven years. I wish nothing but the best for Heather and I'm thankful for the time I spent with her care. I know it's a significant honor to receive a DAISY Award, but Heather deserves so much more than that. There hasn't been a day passed since I went into L&D that I haven't thought about her. If the world had more "Heathers" it would be a kinder life for everyone.
