Heather was nominated by a patient who happens to know a great deal about what it means to be an exceptional nurse since she also happens to be a nurse herself. The patient noted that Heather's consistent actions of professionalism and compassion proved her to be a true role model to all nurses. During her time here the patient experienced some difficulties with her medication dosages and needed to wait on new orders from her physician. Heather kept the patient informed during the entire process, returning to her bedside regularly to help reduce her anxiety and showing compassion by listening and supporting her through it all. Heather displayed a positive attitude and glowing smile, which made the patient feel uplifted, even in the hospital. The patient said, "Heather is a strong patient advocate and strong team player".
