As a stage 4 cancer patient, I have unfortunately had to be hospitalized numerous times over the last 2 years. Since I travel for work and often have to seek care at never before utilized facilities. That being said, tonight I met the absolute epitome of what any patient would hope to see in their assigned RN. Heather's kindness, compassion and professionalism speaks volumes as to her ability to put herself in the patient's shoes. If one needs an advocate, Heather is your girl. If one needs a nurse that has the ability to empathize and not show sympathy, Heather is your girl. Since her arrival tonight, I have been able to smile and realize even with a dire diagnosis and all probability I am not going to be here next year, today I am and living every day to its fullest is so very important. Heather is kind, funny, interesting, educated and above all optimistic, something I have lost lately.
