Heather Pollock, RN, SAFE

I was brought to the Emergency Department as a sexual assault victim after potentially being drugged. Heather Pollock, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, was absolutely incredible. I was very fearful, but Heather went above and beyond to explain the procedures, what they entailed, what they would feel like, etc. She made me feel like I wasn’t broken. She was an incredible advocate when the police were there and I truly felt like I couldn’t be in better hands. Her kindness, professionalism, and advocacy made one of the hardest nights of my life tolerable. Heather bonded with me over the fact that I am also in nursing school, she talked to me about what I wanted to do in nursing, and overall, she made me realize that she is exactly the kind of nurse I hope to be when I graduate. I’ll never forget Heather’s name, her compassion, and her incredible approach to a really hard situation.
