Heather's nomination was from a patient that had never been in a hospital before, therefore he was frightened. He was also very sick. He said that Heather was calming and caring and even came to the inpatient unit to visit him after he was admitted. Her care contributed to his confidence of the quality care we strive to provide for all of our patients.
Heather Sabin first came to the Emergency Department as a nursing student in 2012. Staff saw a willingness to learn and a passion for emergency nursing in Heather and encouraged her to apply for a position in the ED. Heather has grown as an emergency nurse and continues to exhibit a passion for emergency nursing and compassion for her patients. She considers the department her "second home". Heather is team-oriented and serves on the ED Unit Council. She has achieved her certifications in Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC). Heather practices nursing with care and confidence and this is evident in her nomination.
