Heather treated me with kindness, respect, and patience, and her care left a lasting impression on me.
Having a baby for the first time as a young couple was truly a scary yet beautiful experience all at the same time. We were overwhelmed with so much love, fear, excitement, and confusion toward a healthy and safe birth that we thought we were prepared for it, but boy were we ever wrong.

We didn't realize how unprepared we were and how important the emotional relationship between patient and nurse impacts the overall experience of such an important event in our lives.

We felt that the emotional connection was real when Heather was there with us. All the Labor & Delivery nurses were awesome, and we're grateful, but we had a special connection with Heather.

We were comforted by her mannerisms and how she spoke to us in a way that, in our hearts, we saw her say: I can see you. I see your worries, your pain, your stress, and I'm here for you.

She spoke to us like we were her equal, not just a couple of young people. She acknowledged our concerns and explained everything to us in a way we were able to understand.

Even our visiting family saw her attentiveness, and she never left us alone. We even jokingly timed her when she said she was coming back in 20 minutes. Ten minutes—we said she must have had a timer because she was true to her word.

I was a wreck. I was very nervous and felt an anxiety I had never felt before. I was so worried about my wife, and I couldn't bear to see her in pain or stressed. Heather made me feel relaxed because I could see my wife's face calming down when Heather walked in the door.

What would have made this experience perfect is if she had been there with us until our baby's birth.

Thank you, L&D, but most of all, I want to thank Heather for being there to keep us calm. When you did, it showed us the compassion you have toward others for the work that you do.

When I got to Labor and Delivery with strong contractions, my nurse Heather greeted me and explained her role.

After telling Heather my birth plan does not include epidural/pain meds, Heather understood and gave me space to get through my contractions. However, Heather was still very attentive and offered different options to help me with my contractions.

Once it came to pushing, Heather did an awesome job of coaching me while also reassuring me I could do it and that I was doing a good job.

Heather was amazing the whole time, but there's one specific event that meant so much to me.

After giving birth, I was physically exhausted, in significant pain, and emotionally overwhelmed. My nurse gently helped me to the bathroom and assisted me with postpartum care, including changing into a diaper and explaining how to assemble the most comfortable postpartum setup.

During one of the most vulnerable moments of my life amid blood, odors, and my own embarrassment, she never once made me feel uncomfortable or ashamed. Heather's calm presence, professionalism, and genuine compassion preserved my dignity when I needed it most.

Heather treated me with kindness, respect, and patience, and her care left a lasting impression on me.

This nurse exemplified what it truly means to provide holistic, compassionate nursing care, and I will always remember the grace Heather showed me during such a difficult moment.

Thank you, Heather!
