Heather Wiggins, RN

When you wake up in recovery, you know, "You made it!" What a blessing. Then your body reminds you that you just had surgery, and you may wake up in horrific pain. Even with pain and in a twilight state of mind, I shall never forget Heather.

I begged for help and begged her not to leave me. She came with soft words, ice, Sprite, and her attentive care. It seemed like she never left my side, even though I knew other duties were keeping her busy. When I vocally and loudly expressed my need for help, she calmly returned to assist me in every way she could, helping to relieve my pain, anxiety, and fears.

I have survived six breast surgeries related to breast cancer, four foot surgeries, and three eye surgeries. I consider myself "tough." Heather said to me many times, "Women are tough!" What wonderful encouragement. She was constantly attentive with her care and went above and beyond her regular duties. She provided physical comfort, emotional support, and constant reassurance that I would be okay.

By the time I was taken to my room for discharge, Heather had both my pain and my emotional state under control. God bless her. I can't say enough about her nursing skills. Her actions truly reflected her title—a true nurse.

If I ever have surgery again, my prayer would be to have a "Heather" taking care of me. She literally saved me. She helped me through one of the most painful experiences I have ever endured. Her caring spirit is truly commendable.
