Heidi is deserving of the highest recommendation and recognition in the field of nursing. I was privileged to have Heidi as my nurse during my five-day inpatient stay at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix where I received neurosurgery for large spinal lesions. Heidi was there for me during the most challenging periods of recovery, in particular those days immediately following surgery. She demonstrated immense compassion and care always delivered with authentic joy. Each time I saw Heidi my spirits were lifted even during times of pain and discomfort. She made me feel safe and confident in my recovery by tirelessly checking in and supporting me with an upbeat motivational attitude. Her individualized attention made me feel like the only patient on her ward.

Heidi was also incredibly knowledgeable clinically. I have been hospitalized multiple times before, and her clinical knowledge far surpassed any prior experience with nursing staff. In addition, Heidi anticipated my needs often before I did, in particular, with pain management and planning ahead to take walks so I could reach my daily goals. She did all of this joyfully.

On top of it all, even with her knowledge and caliber, she was humble and respectful of my own engagement and decision-making in my care. She solicited my input in decisions when appropriate regarding care, diet, pain management, and goals, and engaged my family thoughtfully helping them feel informed, confident, and at ease with my care.
