She held my mother's hand when she spoke to her, and my mother was immediately comforted by her.
My mother was admitted through the ER. We were hoping that they would get her AFIB regulated and she would be able to go home after observation like a previous visit. Needless to say that wasn't the case. She was initially placed on the 5th floor first and then the next day moved to the 6th floor TCU. In the TCU was where we met her night nurse Heidi. We were having a lot of information thrown at us, pneumonia, O2 issues, afib, covid and we were all overwhelmed and uncertain about what to expect.
First of all, Heidi was unbelievably kind and caring to my mother. She explained things, answered questions, and spoke to us like we were her family. She held my mother's hand when she spoke to her, and my mother was immediately comforted by her. When Heidi returned the next evening for her shift, she talked to my mother and told her she had thought of her often during the day and was glad to be back to help and care for her through the night. Heidi showed unbelievable care and concern every time she entered my mother's room. She went above and beyond because she also showed the same care and compassion to myself and my wife.
Heidi was amazing and will be the standard we hold future caregivers to. Thank you Heidi. You are a special gift to the medical profession, and even though my mother did not get to leave the hospital, you were a true blessing for her, and we thank God for you.
