Heidi’s calmness kept the room calm.
Nomination #1:
Heidi was with us the whole day of our first delivery and was so good at making sure we were comfortable and understood what was happening each step of the way. She answered questions patiently but also could keep things light and humorous to connect with us and help us feel more comfortable throughout the process.

Nomination #2:
I was induced with my third child, and Heidi was my nurse who was orienting a new RN. When I arrived, I met the new RN, and she shared how she was new to the unit. She was nervous about all the new routines in this practice. She shared how she's been a nurse for a long time. I won’t lie, her nerves were getting me a little nervous, too. Yes, this was my third kiddo and third natural delivery, but having a strong nurse to support me through delivery helps so much.

As the Pitocin took effect and contractions got stronger, my quads also cramped very badly. I experienced this with my first child, but didn't realize it was Pitocin. I thought it was nerves. I shared my past experience with Heidi, and she had an idea on how to relieve some of that pain-still without meds. She showed my fiancé the technique, and we were rolling again.

When the new RN came back, she tried it too. I was okay with her trying something new. Labor progressed, and so did cramps. The technique used was no longer cutting it. I changed positions and prepared to deliver on my knees, facing the back of the bed. Now my fiancé and the new RN are applying pressure to my quads, and Heidi is applying pressure to my back. I won't lie, there was a moment I felt embarrassed to deliver in a non-traditional position, but the quad cramps were too bad.

Heidi smoothly guided the new RN and my fiancé through the remainder of the delivery. Carefully listening to me and also guiding from experience. Heidi also seemed to seamlessly call in the Dr., coordinating the logistics of two moms about to deliver simultaneously. Also, we had a moment when the doctor couldn't get the shoulders out, so she pulled the alarm to get support to help me flip to my back. I had no idea until after that she called for extra support.

Heidi’s calmness kept the room calm. After a successful delivery, I found out that the new RN was in tears because she felt so blessed to experience a delivery like that. Everyone should have a nurse like Heidi.
