The patient was feeling down in the dumps. He was upset because it was Valentine’s Day and he couldn’t get his wife anything to celebrate. Heidi took time out of her busy day to go buy flowers for the patient to give to his wife. She took them to him and told him he could tell his wife he got her flowers and not to tell her that she had bought them. When I came in that night the patient was so excited to share with me that Heidi helped him surprise his wife for Valentine’s Day and stated that he and his wife would be celebrating 34 years of marriage on March 11. Heidi went above and beyond this day and made this patient's day by helping him do something nice for his wife. You could tell this was meaningful to him as he shared the story with me that night even with him being a man of few words. Out of the 100+ days he has been on our floor, this was a day I don’t think he will ever forget all thanks to Heidi.
