Helen Chilton, RN

Helen is a manager on ward B48. She is passionate, caring, and truly loving towards patients and families. Even though she is a ward manager, she doesn't stay exclusively in her office doing management work. Instead, she is on the ward, supporting her staff and making sure that the care provided on the ward is outstanding! Helen is a very positive person, always there to welcome and comfort everyone with a smile.

Today I've witnessed one of the most beautiful acts of care I've ever seen. We had a patient who was on end of life care for quite some time. She was in a side room, surrounded by her loving family. They have been there for more than 2 weeks, day and night, never leaving her side. Her elderly husband was exhausted from everything that was happening and wasn't able to rest properly (he had a foldable bed in the room).

Helen went above and beyond and managed to fit a hospital bed right next to the one already in the room, so the patient and husband were finally sleeping together, holding their hands. And that was how our patient finally died in peace...holding her husband's hand.

It may look simple to some people, but to me, it just showed how much she cares about our patients and families.
For that reason, Helen is a true DAISY Nurse.
