My husband and I want to recognize an Extraordinary Nurse, Elena! My husband had a heart ultrasound done and she was assigned to help him as he was coming out of anesthesia to make sure his vitals and oxygen levels were normal before his discharge. He has had several surgeries and procedures and has difficulty coming out of these events due to several health issues. Elena was diligent and thorough making sure to get his vitals on the right track before discharging him.

Her professionalism, as well as her empathetic approach, made a stressful situation for both my husband and myself so much easier. She went out of her way to see when a follow-up appointment was scheduled with his cardiologist. When she found out that it wasn't, she immediately called the clinic and got him an appointment. I never had a nurse go out of her way to do such a thing. She also took the time to wheel him down to the entrance to help him into our car.

Both my husband and I have spent many days in hospitals over the past 10 years. We have had incredible care every time from the nurses and CNAs. This experience really calls for special recognition. As I said to Elena, "you're the best of the best!" Her modest reply was to say that the team she works with is special in the care that they give. Elena is a true DAISY Nurse.
