I would like to thank my mom’s nurse, Helen, from the 7 South ICU Unit, for making a meaningful difference in my mom’s care. From the moment my mom was admitted, Helen went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable. She listened patiently to our story and concerns and treated my mom as if she were her own, not just a patient. Helen always took extra time to care for my mom: washing, medicating, treating, dressing, changing, and so much more outstanding care we received was exceptional. Her kindness made not just my mom’s experience but also mine, as a family member who was extremely worried, much easier to handle. After seeing and getting to know Helen, I was finally able to get a little shut-eye during my night over at the hospital, knowing Helen was my mom’s nurse. Helen learned my mom’s preferences, anticipated my mom’s needs, provided gentle care and encouragement, and even remembered all the details about my mom as the amazing person my mom is. She was so compassionate in providing the best care and improving my mom’s physical and emotional health. It was clear that Helen genuinely cared about my mom’s well-being and celebrated each little milestone in her recovery with us. I believe having her as my mom’s nurse is making a tremendous difference in her healing. Helen is someone my mom and I will never forget during one of the most challenging times of our lives.
