I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work, zeal, and excellence of Helen Okonkwo. I think this month is National Nurses' Month, and if anyone deserves to be acknowledged as following after the early pioneers of the nursing field such as Florence Nightingale, Helen O. certainly deserves it. I must say however, Helen far surpasses the early pioneer(s) in that she is able to multitask. I have observed my wonderful nurse even with other patients and she remains consistently dedicated to the calling, ministry, and profession of nursing no matter how many tasks, Helen O. is able to handle pressure and still remain calm, professional, and pleasant toward patients. Helen works at psychiatric ward at Riverside Regional Hospital.

I do not have to tell you the challenges Helen O. faces, including different personalities and even personality disorders. Helen administers leadership qualities that far surpasses the ordinary nurse. She has handled patient outbursts, then come to me administering leadership and professional skills with a kind and gentle spirit as I suffered with severe pain which lead to severe depression. She never made me feel different or belittled me. Instead she built me up in all areas.
