Helen Ostrowski, RN

I would like to nominate Helen Ostrowski for the outstanding care she provided to my mother-in-law. We brought my mother-in-law to the Emergency Department because she was having pain in her leg. We thought it was her lymphedema causing the pain. Helen came into her room and was gentle and kind to not only my mother-in-law, but to me and my wife as well. When Helen was examining her, she was very gentle. She noticed when she was repositioning her that she reacted a certain way. Then Helen asked if she had fallen or injured her leg in any way because she thought she had a broken hip. She hadn’t fallen and we thought it was the lymphedema. Helen then went and told the doctor what she had thought, and the x-ray was ordered. She in fact had a broken hip. We are so grateful for how thorough Helen was because we think if she wasn’t we may have been sent home without knowing her hip was broken. My mother-in-law was admitted and had surgery to repair her hip. If Helen treats all her patients the way she treated us, you are lucky to have her. She is an outstanding nurse! Helen kept us updated on everything and she made sure my mother-in-law’s pain was under control especially before they took her to x-ray. Helen deserves this recognition.
