Helen Ann Varner – 4C
On Friday, March 5th I was sitting in the hall outside my daughter’s room crying when someone kneeled down next to me and put a gentle hand on my back. I looked to see Helen Ann here for another patients’ birthday party on her day off. Through her comforting words and prayer for my daughter and our family I found peace and strength to continue to be brave. I don’t know of many nurses who would return on their day off for a 13 year olds birthday party and to stop and get down on her knees in a hall and comfort a mother that is in tears. Helen Ann was also our nurse several times and further exemplified the compassionate care that the Daisy Award represents.
Ms. Helen Ann Varner I must say is a wonderful nurse to nominate. Whenever I see her she always has this bubbly, perky attitude. She displays her compassionate care to her fellow co-workers, patients, and family members, and to me is the ideal example of the greatest nurse in all aspects possible. So therefore she’s my nominee and does display the organizational values of quality, teamwork, innovation, diversity and integrity.
