Helen spent time with me, comforted me, and explained she had canceled my scan and moved it forward with the Fetal medicine consultant, and made sure she was there to be with me.
I have had a late miscarriage and an ectopic in the last 3 years and I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant again. At the time of my miscarriage at 23 weeks, I was told I would have further follow-up regularly due to the nature of the issues. I have been very stressed and have struggled at times to settle with my mind racing if things could be going wrong. I was referred to a premature prevention clinic where I met Helen. I sat down and almost burst into tears straight away, she was the most amazing breath of fresh air I had been trying too hard to find! She had read my notes thoroughly and already discussed with a consultant as she felt I was on the incorrect pathways, she explained everything and managed to show empathy without me feeling like she was feeling sorry for me.

She spent time with me, comforted me, and explained she had canceled my scan and moved it forward with the Fetal medicine consultant, and made sure she was there to be with me. She touched on all the issues I raised which she really didn’t have to at that clinic appointment. And I left that day feeling like I was part of a team that will look after me. She spoke about her staff with great affection and consistently asked if I had questions or if I needed anything else. A fantastic member of staff the LRI maternity team could have.
