His assistance provided dignity for that dying veteran while assisting his peers during the busiest time of the day.
Henry Kiser goes above and beyond for his patients while also supporting his peers and improving unit morale with his incredibly positive attitude. There are many occasions that can be used as examples of his dedication, but a recent instance occurred while he was caring for a Veteran with dementia.

The veteran had been on the unit for many weeks due to a need for placement during a period of bed scarcity in the community. This was leading to increased confusion for the veteran. As the weather was becoming increasingly pleasant Henry decided to start taking the patient outside for short walks as he was in good physical condition. He did this on many occasions during the veteran's stay not just having a positive impact on the patient's mentation but also on his mood.

Henry was caring for a veteran on another occasion who was actively dying. As his shift was coming to an end it became evident that the veteran had minutes to hours to live He understood that caring for a patient at the end of life could be hard on staff and was always time-consuming. Henry also understood that the beginning of a shift is the busiest time for nursing staff. He decided to stay after his standard duty hours to assist with the dying veteran to allow the night shift nurse the opportunity to care for the other veterans assigned to them. His assistance provided dignity for that dying veteran while assisting his peers during the busiest time of the day. Henry always comes to work with a positive attitude and performs as a team player.
