Hermaton Nalyanya, RN
Hermaton was nominated by peers, colleagues, leaders and most important patients and families from within his unit and throughout the hospital for the above and beyond assistance and support he offers far out of the scope or requirements of his role.
Examples provided included: opening doors and providing helping carrying items and transporting patients to vehicles and around the hospital, serving a source of encouragement for patients and families who are struggling using positivity and providing exceptional bedside care and non clinical caregiving to ease nerves before surgery and in dealing with a poor prognosis or lengthy recovery.
He is requested by name by patients and families and has also volunteered to precept and orient new staff members as a mentor, as well as each new Conexus nurse arriving in Des Moines.
