I received a voicemail from a patient's husband. He wanted to let me know that he just received "the nicest thank you card from Hilaria, who was our nurse on Friday". He proceeded to tell me that his wife came in often and everyone they encountered in our department, naming Tawni Bosomworth and Carolyn Rector as well as several of our physicians, are a "super-team" and that his wife loved her caregivers. Then there were 10 seconds of silence before he began to speak again. When he did, he was crying. He said his wife passed away on Monday and her last caregiver was Hilaria. He said, "I just want to thank everyone for their compassion, friendship and everything they did taking care of her".
