I would like to nominate Hilary for the Daisy Award. She is an excellent nurse and does a great job on PEDS.
There is a patient that has had multiple admissions and extended stays in Children's hospital due to her complex medical needs. She has a skin condition that requires her to have meticulous skin care and skin covering to keep her skin intact. The patient's mom is very particular and has a specific regimen that needs to be followed to keep Jenna's skin healthy. She is here with her daughter most of the time, but when she has to leave, she requests that we follower her home routine, Hilary put together a book to help the nursing staff follow the home routine. I personally referred to this book one night when I was caring for Jenna and it was a great tool. I spoke with Jenna' mom and we talked about Hillary and the book. Jenna's mom praised Hilary and was very grateful for the care and compassion Hilary has shown Jenna. Jenna's brother, who is a basketball player, referred to Hilary as the MVP of Jenna's nursing team.
Hilary really listens to the families and she practices family-centered care. Hilary gives care to our patients and their families that help them to feel comfortable and secure. Hilary is a great nurse and I think she deserves the Daisy Award. She truly is the MVP of the PEDS Team.
