I had the absolute pleasure of working alongside Hillary. I am a student nurse tracking my pediatric clinical and I was assigned to Hillary for the day. From the moment I met Hillary, I noticed her warm smile and inviting kindness. She appeared excited to have a student and she was prepared to teach. Her charisma made me enthusiastic for a day of learning and patient care. Her welcoming demeanor and encouraging spirit weren't limited to our introduction. Hillary extended an endearing and professional approach to fellow health care providers, families, and patients.
We had three patients to care for. I was amazed to witness how Hillary took the time to offer optimal care to each patient. She didn't miss one step of the nursing process. She always practiced patient safety. Furthermore, she proved to be an exceptional educator! She educated patients and families concerning their specific disease process. Also, she was hands-on in demonstrating the procedures required for the ongoing care of the patients.
Hillary took the time to answer any and every question and concern of those in her care. She made sure each patient and family member were proficient in performing skills as well. All the while, she was taking the time to teach me, answer my questions, and allow me to practice my nursing skills. It is difficult to put into words all that I learned from Hillary. She is the epitome of excellence in the nursing profession. She has the knowledge, skills, heart, personality, time management, and compassion that allow her to offer the finest patient care. She is a total team player. To me, she is an incredible inspiration. She is the personification of what makes Texas Children's Hospital the best and most trusted hospital in pediatric care.
