My 2-month-old son was hospitalized for RSV and was put on the ventilator. Hillary was his nurse and was a light on one of the darkest days of my life. She gave me hope and reassurance. She told me it wasn't my fault. She cared for my son with the love and tenderness that I can only imagine that she shows to her own child. She never left his side. After five days, my son came off the ventilator, but unfortunately struggled on high flow oxygen and failed bi-pap. Hillary was his nurse again. She gave me strength and hope when I was growing weary.
After 10 days, my son was finally transferred out of the PICU. Hillary came and visited us on the regular peds floor. She is truly one of the most caring individuals I have ever met and has left an impression on my life that I will never forget. All my PICU nurses were incredible, but Hillary stands out because she was with me on the two most terrifying days of my life - the day my son was intubated and the day he nearly required re-intubation. Thank you, Hillary! My family will forever be grateful.
