Hillary is consistently advocating for patients. She always goes above and beyond to make sure concerns are followed up on by the appropriate party. Despite how busy she is, she makes time to ensure that the patients are cared for holistically.  

A perfect example occurred the other day. Hillary saw a patient that she knew in the elevator and said hi to him. She looked down and saw that his PICC line was missing two sterile blue caps that should be on to protect his bloodstream from infection. She asked him if she would be able to take a look. Upon further assessment, she noted his dressing was not intact as well and it looked infected. This patient was an immunocompromised BMT patient. Hillary was very busy and on Rapid Response team that day, as well as assisting other areas. She paused to make sure the patient was taken care of. She then reached out to the BMT clinic and notified the provider, who saw the patient right away and was able to pull the line. The patient then came to infusion for a dose of antibiotic.  

This is a daily occurrence for Hillary. She is observant and notices things that make a difference in a patient's care. She advocates and speaks up for patients. Our patients are so blessed to have her as their advocate.
