I would like to nominate nurse Hoda for The DAISY Award. Hoda exemplifies the true calling of a nurse through her incredible dedication and compassionate care. Recently, Hoda went above and beyond for an intubated mother who had to deliver her baby urgently. Understanding the emotional turmoil and the precious moments the mother would miss, Hoda took it upon herself to ensure that the mother was still a part of her baby’s first night. She meticulously kept a diary detailing every significant moment and created a beautiful scrapbook page capturing those precious first hours. Hoda captured the baby's first bath, first feeding, and eventually made it down to mom for some skin-to-skin contact. Through this selfless act, Hoda provided not only medical care but also unparalleled emotional support. She made sure that the new mother, despite being apart from her baby, could cherish those first memories and feel connected. This level of care requires immense dedication, empathy, and a profound commitment to the well-being of both patients and their families. Hoda's actions reflect the essence of nursing: compassion, dedication, and a deep understanding of the emotional and supportive needs of her patients.
