Holland Welsh, BSN, RN
Holland was nominated by not one, but two individuals whose lives were touched by her compassionate approach to nursing.
The first nomination reads: “I would like to thank Holland and share my story of why she is so special. I was admitted as a patient to 8 Main and Holland was my nurse for two of the three days I was there. From the first time that she introduced herself, I knew I was in good hands. Holland was so sweet and very professional. Anytime I needed medication, she would tell me what it was and what it was for. She was very professional when checking my vitals and making sure I was comfortable in my room.
Holland would check on me often and made sure all of my needs were taken care of. In addition to this, she was very conscious of when my family and friends were there to give us our privacy. She was always very kind to all of them. She was always willing to listen when I would talk about my family and let me share a lot about them, which brought me comfort when no one else was there with me.
Holland was also very comforting when I was trying to process what was happening to me. This was my first cardiac event. I had no risk factors or warning signs, so there was a lot to process. If I had any questions, she would answer them, or if she couldn’t, she would find out the answer for me. Holland made my experience a lot easier with her sweet disposition and professional manner. Holland was amazing, and I hope you all know how lucky you are to have her on your floor.”
The second nomination reads: “My father has been under Holland’s care for the past few days, and she has been a God-send. My father is a very stubborn, hard-headed man. His emotions have been so up and down through this hospital stay. He has been grumpy and hard to work with, but she has been so patient and understanding. I am just starting to handle his care, so I have been asking many questions.
She has gone out of her way to make sure I got as much communication and answers as possible. She connected with his doctors and facilitated them meeting with me and keeping me updated with every step.
She is hands-down the BEST nurse I have ever met. Her kind heart and bedside manner are something I will continue to rave about. Thank you, Holland, for everything you have done for my father and me.”
