This patient has been hospitalized on our unit for 184+ days and is a paraplegic with no family to assist in his care. Hollie spent over 6 hours helping this patient obtain the necessary documents to help him obtain a new ID card and birth certificate. With permission from the patient and MD, she gathered necessary medical records and DMV forms to help the patient prove his homebound status to the state. She along with the doctor drafted a letter to send along with the paperwork to hopefully expedite the process. By completing these tasks with the patient, he will be able to obtain updated copies of his NC identification and birth certificate. By having these documents the patient will be able to access his bank accounts and increase his sense of control over his current situation and health status.
