...For two nights I was blessed to have Nurse Hollie Holm, because not only am I afraid of the hospital and doctors, but I was alone with no family and no friends.
My fiance was still in the ER and I couldn't be close to him obviously because we both were being treated, so I was truly terrified, but to my surprise, I had the pleasure to meet Hollie. She was my night time nurse for those two days, and I thank God that she was because not only did she try to do everything in her power to take care of me, but she took the time to know me as a person. I've struggled with a sort of addiction that is not understandable to some, but to her I was no different. She took time to talk to me - not like "how's your day" - but on a deeper level about who I was and wanted to be. She told me "you are the master of your own choices" and those words have been helping me throughout my recovery just remembering our talks and stories shared.
I have been able to stay clean and have a more positive outlook on myself and on my new life journey. I would feel so guilty and selfish if I did not share my story because there are people out in the world who actually do have good intentions and a good heart and Hollie is one of them. So to her I say thank you and God bless. You have helped me to stay clean and be a better person. To myself and to others and to all who are blessed to be around her daily are lucky and you never realize who will end up changing your life, but for me it was Hollie. To her, I am thankful and still a sober person thanks to our little pick-me-up talks.
