Holly was my mom’s day nurse for the majority of the time she was in the hospital. She helped support my mom through her journey and made sure she was always well taken care of. Holly also showed me so much support when I was scared, especially when they told me my mother was having emergency surgery due to a metal object being in her right bronchial tube.

I know I probably drove Mrs. Davis insane with all my questions and concerns, but she was very understanding and patient. When my family could not be there, she stepped in and showed me emotional support. Holly’s heart is so big, it shines right through in her patient care. She took time with my mom and never rushed or brushed her off. She not only made sure my mom was cared for, but also that I was okay as well. Her heart shines through her smile.

Holly inspires me to become a nurse like her, to stay calm no matter what the situation is. My mom’s exact words were, “I’ve never had nurses as excellent as I did here, and something about Holly just touched me. She made me feel comfortable and helped me remain calm through any news that came our way.” Holly should serve as an inspiration to other nurses. 

There was one day that stood out to me the most. That morning, my mom and I got some pretty scary news, and I was a wreck trying to be strong for her. I was asking Holly a thousand questions. My family couldn’t come right away to be with me during my mom’s emergency surgery, but Holly made me feel like she wasn’t just a nurse, she was family.

I even apologized for being such a pest, over-worrying about my mom. She never once got annoyed with me. Instead, she helped me get all the answers I needed and made sure to keep me updated throughout the procedure. My mother and I are so touched by Holly and the other nurses from 6 East.

Holly is the example of a perfect nurse, one that you pray for. Anytime I had to leave the hospital to get rest, go to work, or take care of our dogs, I was confident that Holly would take care of my mom, be pleasant, help her, and reach out to me if there were any changes.
