My mother-in-law, suffering from Brain Cancer, entered Palliative Care on the 6th floor where our family met an angel by the name of Holly. Although we were to meet a number of wonderful nurses over our 10 day stay before my mother-in-law would pass, no one captured our hearts like Holly! Holly was/is special. An Angel chosen by God to enter our lives at a very difficult time. Holly, of course, is an excellent nurse! Very knowledgeable and very good at her job. But along with her expertise, she holds a very caring spirit in her heart. We could feel that spirit each time she walked into our room. My sister-in-law and niece, along with myself spent every night in the room with my mother-in-law. My sister-in-law and I stayed 24/7 by mom’s side. Holly was always there to answer our questions, calm any fears, and give my mother-in-law every bit of care she needed. Holly radiated love. Even when she wasn’t working, on a day off, we waited anxiously for her return. She is truly a gifted nurse! So gentle and soothing and her presence covered all of us with a ray of comfort and yes- even sunshine during this time. On the 10th day of my mother-in-law’s stay, it was Holly who came on duty that evening. And it was Holly who was there for my mother-in-law and us when she took her last breath. It couldn’t have been a more loving moment that Jesus took mom home. And Holly, who has become so important to our family was there to share with us and offer us her perfect love. I cannot say enough about Holly. Our family will NEVER forget Holly and her love and service to our mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Holly will always have a special place in our hearts!
