Holly always took extra time with my mother-in-law, talked to her, explained many things over and over to my mother-in-law and to us and never once was flustered or in a hurry.
One morning it was time for the nursing staff to huddle and Holly did not leave my mother-in-law's room because she wasn't doing well and needed immediate attention. Holly didn't blink an eye; she did what she needed to do without any help as everyone was in the huddle. She couldn't and wouldn't leave my mother-in-law alone. After the ordeal was over, my husband and I looked at each other and talked about what a wonderful nurse Holly is. It was very comforting to us to see just how much she cared. She was very gentle in her demeanor and touch with my mother-in-law. It just meant so much for us to see that she truly cared.
In addition, Holly is extremely knowledgeable. She had so many ideas and suggestions that gave us a lot of comfort. One day, my mother-in-law was very agitated, and Holly brought a colorful shawl to her to see if that would keep her occupied and less agitated; it worked! Holly recommended that we buy a baby doll or stuffed animal as that might help her to say calmer and it really did help her. It is nurses like Holly that we should have by our hospital bedside when we are alone and confused.
