She always took time to talk with me, and I felt more like family than a patient.
I was a patient at Memorial Hospital Chattanooga. From the trauma unit, I was taken to CCU and spent the first night prepping for a colonoscopy. The nurse on duty was very kind and skillful in aiding me through the night.
At 7:00 in the morning, I was greeted by Nurse Holly, whose spirit was as refreshing as the dawn. She was immediately aware of my situation and assessed what I was capable of. She spoke confidently about my recovery and was very interested in what I was enduring.
Holly checked my vitals and explained what they meant, even to educate me on hemoglobin levels. As I was still dealing with the effects of the bowel prep, Holly was immediately there to assist me to the toilet. Each time she had to disconnect and then reconnect the various machines. She was never put off by my needs and always made me feel important.
Holly is not there just for a paycheck; she is there because she is determined to make a difference in all who come into her care. She truly loves to help her patients heal and doesn't rest until she is sure they are heading in that direction. She always took time to talk with me, and I felt more like family than a patient.
She brought my wife a chair and pushed a recliner into my room to give me relief from the bed. I was so thankful for that!
Holly recognizes that healing isn't just physical but also mental and spiritual. My wife and I will always remember her kindness.
