Every step she takes in her role is considerate to every staff member and patient, without bias, which is something that can be felt by everyone.
Holly has been our nurse manager for a little over a year now. She started with us during a time of massive change and anxiety/distrust among the staff. She hit the ground running and jumped right in to help us with any and everything she could, despite never having worked in an outpatient setting before. We went from having no leadership to having a manager that was always present on the unit, ready to help with whatever she could. We came to her with issues and concerns daily and she consistently addressed them all in real-time. This created a tremendous amount of trust and comfort among our staff that we hadn't had in a very long time. Staff members went from feeling overwhelmed and almost in tears after each shift to feeling satisfied and happy to come to work, excited for all the new changes that Holly helped initiate.

In my time at CGS Infusion, we had never been fully staffed with qualified nurses, and in her short amount of time with us, she has managed to staff our unit adequately and appropriately. This has greatly improved nursing satisfaction and decreased burnout. Holly is incredibly proactive in her approach to management, rather than reactive. She anticipates any issues and takes the appropriate actions to prevent them rather than react to them after the fact. Every step she takes in her role is considerate to every staff member and patient, without bias, which is something that can be felt by everyone. Everyone on our unit is more than comfortable going to Holly to voice their concerns without worrying about feeling judged or that they would be treated unfairly.

Our unit has gone from having only a handful of nurses that completed PACT to now having all but one of our eligible nurses enrolled for the 2022-2023 PACT year. She has also contributed to the professional advancement of our nurses by encouraging and facilitating nurses to become Oncology Certified Nurses. Many of our nurses are now planning to take their certification exam within the next six months because of her. I have never seen our staff so eager to strive for more!

Holly has also fostered an incredible decrease in the gap in communication between the doctors and nurses in the infusion center. The relationship we have with the physician's offices has greatly improved due to her constant communication. She involves direct care nurses with care-based decisions whenever possible, which helps to create a more closed-loop system between disciplines. This has greatly enhanced both staff and patient satisfaction and safety. I truly can't say enough about how important Holly has been to the success of our unit. I speak for the entirety of our staff when I say that there is no other person more deserving of this award.
